Illinois General Assembly has declared the first Monday of March as Pulaski Day in 1977 to honor the heroes of the Revolution to the war has saved the life of General George Washington in 1777. The festival also seeks to honor the legacy of Poland and the U.S. - and Chicago has the largest Polish population outside of Warsaw.
Chicago Public Schools will be closed on Monday, along with the libraries of Chicago and Cook County courts. Some suburban and Catholic schools open. Parking meters must be fed, banks and financial markets remain open, the federal courts are open and forwarded. There is no garbage collection in Chicago.
P. Sabina Logisz Hall Museum of the Polish American Pulaski Day celebration held for 10 hours, which will be characterized by action of the Governor Pat Quinn, Mayor Richard M. Daley and the Polish American leaders.
Event will feature artists from Poland and the awards on the crown. The reception will follow. Museum is located at 984 N. Milwaukee Avenue. Chicago.
