A central New Jersey school was renamed in honor of President Barack Obama will soon be closed last year.
The current monitor that monitors the financial operations of Asbury Park School District cited the decision of declining enrollment, said Thursday.
Monitor Bruce Rodman said the Asbury Park Press Barack H. Obama Elementary School be closed on 1 July.
The school was built over a century and formerly known as the Bangs Avenue School.
Students can now attend classes will be reassigned to two other elementary schools in the district for the next school year.
Public Schools Development Authority has been to build a new school to replace a historic building, but these plans have recently been deleted.
